Awaiting Spring
The second planting of ranunculus and anemone are going into the high tunnel this week. The ability to grow flowers and work in the warmth of that filtered sunlight is such an amazing experience.
The smell of the eucalyptus, still dormant as it waits for summer, and the warm soil greet me as I walk through the large wooden doors and it feels like an embrace from a grandmother, warm with floral perfume.
It’s hard to believe that it has been nearly a year since I’ve held these precious flowers. But a new Spring will be here soon and the flowers will bloom again, new and exciting yet familiar and comforting.
As I plant the flowers in their small and tender state, I can’t help but dream of what Spring will bring. I can’t help but dream of what the world will look like when the song birds return and the soil opens and breathes out its winter breath and the flowers bloom again.
