Just in Time for Summer

DSC00471.JPG

The Lisianthus has started to bloom in the high tunnel. Lisianthus is a prairie flower and somehow reminds me of my father, who grew up in Kansas on a dairy farm. I don’t know if he ever heard of lisianthus, most likely not. But the idea that this flower is from the same land as he is, is comforting. These flowers were planted all the way back in February, around Valentine’s Day. It feels somewhat comforting to see the effort I put out when the world was still frozen finally starting to bloom.

These lisianthus rose like quality feels like a heartfelt gesture. And my heart pangs.

Your Flower Farmer,

Heather
